Apprentice Early Years Practitioner

hdc is looking to recruit an Apprentice Early Years Practitioner at our Dartington Nursery.

Our ideal candidate will be passionate about improving outcomes for children and be willing to undertake a programme of study to complete, initially, a Level 2 programme of study.

In this position you will:

  • Work under the direction of the Manager and Room Leader
  • Be trained to undertake the same responsibilities as a Key worker
  • Support the aims and objectives of hdc and assist the Room Leader in the organisation of a high-quality establishment for children from birth to 5 years
  • Provide high standards of childcare and education – to providing a safe, caring environment to enable the emotional, social and educational development of children, through individual attention and group activities
  • Implement the daily routine in the base room
  • Prepare and complete activities to suit the child’s stage of development
  • Complete care routines that meet the needs of the child

The most important quality we look for in our apprentices is to have a passion for working with children and commitment to pursuing a career in childcare.

Good communication skills and creative thinking skills are a must and it is helpful if you are confident with children, calm and organised but most importantly patient. You should also be a team player whilst working in a professional and responsible manner.

Ideally grades C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent) however we can support with the undertaking of functional skills if required.

The safety and welfare of children is paramount to hdc and this position is exempted from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. This means that you must declare all criminal convictions, including those that would otherwise be considered "spent" on your DBS declaration form.
