At Humpty Dumpty Childcare, we are proud to support Jeans for Genes day. It is a simple concept – wear your jeans to work, school, or nursery, -and donate to a fantastic cause. We encouraged all children and staff at our three nurseries in Dartington, Dartmouth and Newton Abbot to wear their jeans on the day, and raised £187, for a wonderful charity. I would like to say a massive ‘Thank You’ to our staff, children and families for your support, – we had an enjoyable day full of messy, creative activities and cake!
Connie Willcocks, founder, Humpty Dumpty Childcare.
Children and staff were encouraged to wear their favourite jeans on Friday 22nd September to raise money for Jeans for Genes. The children spent the day getting creative with old pairs of jeans, that were donated by staff and parents/carers. They all really enjoyed getting messy with glitter, glue and feathers!
We then held a cupcake sale with cakes that the children had made and decorated themselves (with some kindly donated by family members and our friends at Saveurs Bakery in Dartmouth!)
In total, Humpty Dumpty Childcare raised £187 and we want to thank everyone that donated and took part in the day.
Jeans for Genes Day invites everyone across the UK to wear their jeans for the day in return for a small donation. We all inherit a range of talents, skills and personality traits through our genes they’re part of what makes us who we are. But half a million children in the UK face the daily challenges of a genetic disorder. By pulling on a pair of jeans, we were helping to fund the vital care and support services that transform their lives.
