The children at Humpty Dumpty Childcare have been really busy this week, getting their aprons on and wooden spoons at the ready to celebrate National Baking Week.
Over recent years baking and cooking shows have risen in popularity, a particular favourite being the Great British Bake Off, as a result home baking is becoming increasing popular. National Baking week was founded in 2007 by Pyrex to encourage people with all abilities to bake at home.
At Humpty Dumpty Childcare baking is one of our regular activities and in celebration of National Baking Week we made an extra effort to get everyone involved. Cooking with children is a wonderful way to introduce a range of different learning experiences, everything from early math’s, science, changing properties, smells, tastes and textures. It is also a wonderful way to encourage children to try new foods.
Pyrex have a brilliant selection of easy to achieve recipes for families to cook together at home, just click on the link below and give them a try. https://www.nationalbakingweek.co.uk/recipes/tag/family-baking/
Our children at Dartington, Dartmouth and Newton Abbot have all enjoyed baking a range of products this week such as: shortbread, samosa’s, bread and cakes.
Baking them was almost as much fun as eating them!
