Roald Dahl (1916-1990) was one of the world’s most imaginative, successful and loved storytellers. Roald Dahl Day celebrates his work and seeks to share it with a new generation of followers. The event takes place on 13th September, Dahl’s birthday.
Humpty Dumpty Childcare in Dartmouth celebrated Roald Dahl day by inviting the local librarian in to tell the children some of Dahl’s best-loved stories and to take part in some craft activities. Our Newton Abbot and Dartington nurseries also did some art and crafts by colouring in some famous characters and even decorating Mr Twit’s beard. All the children had a fantastic day and enjoyed celebrating the work of one of the world’s best children’s authors.
Some of Roald Dahl’s most famous books include Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, The BFG and James and the Giant Peach. Last year was the 100th Birthday of Roald Dahl which children all over the country celebrated. Indeed, author David Walliams, a fan of Roald Dahl’s books, presented a TV show called Roald Dahl’s Most Marvellous Book where he invited celebrities on to discuss their favourite Roald Dahl book.
